1. Introduction
Christian Schafmeister ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Nomad Days mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Nomad Days is designed with privacy as a core principle - all your data stays on your device.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Christian SchafmeisterSchorlemerstr. 11
40545 Düsseldorf
Germany
Email: support@slacktime.org
Phone: +49 211 94251238
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide
When you use Nomad Days, you may voluntarily provide the following information:
- Stay Records: Country, start date, end date, and optional notes for each stay you log
- Attachments: Photos and documents you choose to attach to your stays
Important: All this information is stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers.
3.2 Location Data
If you enable the optional automatic country detection feature (Pro version only), the App may access your device's location services to determine which country you are currently in.
- Location data is processed entirely on your device
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your location data to any server
- Location access can be disabled at any time in your device settings
- The App only uses location to detect country changes, not to track your precise location
3.3 Purchase Information
If you purchase the Pro version of Nomad Days, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information (credit card details, billing address, etc.).
Apple may share limited transaction information with us (such as purchase confirmation), but this does not include your personal payment details. For more information, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
3.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
Nomad Days does not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Cookies or tracking technologies
- Data from third-party services
4. How We Use Your Information
Since all data is stored locally on your device, we do not "use" your information in the traditional sense. The App uses your locally stored data solely to:
- Display your stay history in the Calendar, Dashboard, Journey, and Insights screens
- Calculate statistics (days per country)
- Generate exports (PDF/CSV) when you request them
- Detect country changes (if auto-tracking is enabled)
All processing happens on your device. No data is sent to external servers.
Diagnostics (optional): When you contact support, you may choose to attach a short technical diagnostic log of recent app events. It is generated only when you opt in, sensitive values are redacted, it contains no notes or stay content, and it is sent only by you through your own email app — never automatically. You can review it before sending.
5. Data Storage and Security
5.1 Local Storage
All your data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's secure storage frameworks (SwiftData). This data is:
- Protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
- Encrypted by iOS when your device is locked
- Not accessible to other apps on your device
- Not backed up to iCloud unless you have iCloud Backup enabled for your entire device
5.2 No Cloud Sync
Nomad Days does not include cloud synchronization. Your data exists only on the device where you entered it.
5.3 Data Deletion
Important: If you delete the Nomad Days app from your device, all your data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. We recommend exporting your data before uninstalling the App.
6. Website Privacy
This section applies to our website (nomaddays.slacktime.org).
6.1 Web Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how our website is used (for example, the number of visitors and page views). It is a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service:
- It does not set any cookies and stores nothing on your device
- It does not store your IP address and does not build cross-site visitor profiles
- Only aggregated, anonymous data is collected — such as the page URL, referrer, approximate location (country/region), browser, operating system, and device type
Because no information is stored on or read from your device, no cookie consent banner is required (§ 25 TDDDG). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring and improving our website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Vercel acts as our processor under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). As Vercel is a US-based company, this may involve a transfer of data to the United States, safeguarded by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.
We also store your language preference locally in your browser (functional only — not a cookie, no tracking).
6.2 Server Logs
Our website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel automatically collects certain technical information in server logs, including:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and time of access
This data is collected by Vercel for security and operational purposes and is subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy. We do not have direct access to individual server logs.
7. Third-Party Services
Nomad Days uses the following third-party services:
7.1 Apple App Store / StoreKit
We use Apple's StoreKit framework to process in-app purchases for the Pro version. Apple handles all payment processing. We do not receive or store your payment information.
7.2 No Analytics or Advertising in the App
The Nomad Days app does not use any analytics services (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, or Mixpanel), and does not display advertisements or use advertising SDKs. (Our website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics — see Section 6.)
8. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share your personal data with anyone. Since we don't collect your data in the first place, there is nothing to share.
The only exceptions where data might leave your device:
- Export Feature: When you explicitly export your data to PDF or CSV, you control where that file goes
- Device Backup: If you use iCloud Backup or iTunes backup, your device data (including app data) may be included
9. Your Rights Under GDPR
As a resident of the European Union, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of Access: You can view all your data directly in the App at any time
- Right to Rectification: You can edit any stay or information in the App
- Right to Erasure: You can delete individual stays or all data via Settings → Delete All Data
- Right to Data Portability: You can export all your data to PDF or CSV format
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can disable location services at any time
- Right to Object: Since we don't process your data on servers, this right is inherently fulfilled
Because all data is stored locally on your device and we have no access to it, you can exercise all these rights directly within the App without needing to contact us.
10. International Data Transfers
Since all your data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers, there are no international data transfers to consider.
If you use iCloud Backup, Apple may transfer your device backup data internationally according to their privacy policy.
11. Children's Privacy
Nomad Days is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal data from any users, this concern is inherently addressed.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to know what personal information is collected
- Right to delete personal information
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
We do not sell your personal information. Since all data is stored locally on your device and we don't collect it, these rights are automatically fulfilled.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
For significant changes, we may also notify you through the App or via the App Store update notes.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the App after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
14. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us:
Christian SchafmeisterEmail: support@slacktime.org
We will respond to your inquiry within 30 days.
15. Supervisory Authority
If you believe that our processing of your personal data violates data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany, this is:
Die Bundesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die InformationsfreiheitHusarenstraße 30
